British experimental psychologist and psychoanalyst, born in Liverpool to a German father and an English mother. He wrote The Psycho-Analytic Study of the Family (1921) and The Psychology of Clothes (1930), where he traced how men's dress gave up display and colour at the end of the eighteenth century, and he was one of Susan Isaacs's analysts.
The Melanie Klein Trust dates a brief treatment with Flügel to 1920, before her analysis with Rank; Psychoanalytikerinnen has her continue with Flügel after Rank.
