Person
Pierre Turquet
Pierre Turquet (1913–1975) was a British psychiatrist and psychoanalyst at the Tavistock Clinic, where he became a consultant in 1952 and later chaired the Adult Department. He worked with groups and was a central figure in the Tavistock's group relations conferences. In his 1974 chapter 'Leadership: the individual and the group' he proposed a fourth basic assumption beside Bion's three, 'oneness', in which members seek to merge with an omnipotent force and give up their separate selves. He was also a British Olympic fencer, and he died in a road accident in France.
